"What is left in the world of sanity for one who has lost everything with meaning? I suppose most with a strong mind and heart would say to try and make the best of it and keep moving on. Well not everyone can move on from where they are. I know I cannot, not in the world I once called my home. Out there, I have lost my beloved family to a hellish inferno. The shock, as an understatement really did a number on my mind, be it through the loss alone, or the guilt of not somehow saving them, the countless questions of what I could have done differently. Such a state of mind led me to a mental institution, where my physical self now currently lies, bound in a straight jacket, curled up in the corner of an empty room. Now I have found a home among the charred remains of what was once a safe, peaceful land I came to in my dreams. The once clear blue sky is now a bright crimson, the once peaceful forests now bare constant eeriness and threat of potential danger. My whole world, and all who dwell within it have now been twisted into darker versions of themselves. And yet, this dark, twisted world, still gives me comfort. In the world of Sanity, I am a prisoner, forever trapped in an asylum for the rest of my days. Here, in my Wonderland, I am a warrior in a hostile world. I am home." -Alice

A while ago, I got interested in drawing my own twisted takes on story book characters, mainly I was by American McGee's Alice game, as well as the amazing works of Todd McFarlane. Seriously, if you haven't seen McFarlane's awesomely detailed twisted takes on children's book characters, I strongly recommend checking it out at spawn.com.
